Dog and Cat Licenses

Annual License Tags are required by an owner who keeps or harbors any dog(s) or cat(s) over the age of 4 months. All dogs within the city limits of Overland must be kept on a leash or securely contained within an enclosure. Any dog found running at large on any street or other public place shall be taken and impounded by an agent of the Public Works Department. Any dog impounded may be redeemed by its owner at a reasonable hour at a place designated by the Public Works Department. All dogs, whether or not securely kept on a leash, is prohibited in Wild Acres Park. Any cat which by continuous screeching, calling or mewing, or any dog which by continual barking, howling, yelping, or by chasing vehicles shall annoy any person is hereby declared to be a public nuisance.

Inoculation, License Tag Requirements - Proof of inoculation against distemper - annually and rabies - every three years is a prerequisite to obtain a license tag.

License Tag Fees -

  • Male $1.00 annually
  • Spayed Female $1.00 annually
  • Female $2.00 annually


License Tag to be attached - The metal tag issued by the City Clerk's office shall be kept attached to the dog or cat for which issued, at all times.

Limit - An owner of cats or dogs is limited to three (3) cats, or three (3) dogs, or any combination of cats or dogs, up to three (3) total animals, over the age of four (4) months. The definition of an owner is anyone who owns keeps or harbors at any time, whether at one (1) or more locations in the City.

A License Tag may be obtained from the City Clerk's Office located at 9119 Lackland Road, Overland MO 63114, Monday thru Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, or call (314) 428-4321. Parking for City Hall is available at the Community Center parking lot during business hours.
