The Overland Police Department recognizes the importance of having an Explorer Program in an effort to develop leadership skills in youth and promote law enforcement as a career field.
The Explorer Program also provides an atmosphere that teaches self-discipline, professionalism, and creates a better relationship between our community's youth and the Police Department.
The Overland Police Department hosts a Police Explorer program that is chartered by the Boy Scouts of America and Learning for Life and has been designated as Law Enforcement Explorer Post 9346.
Police Explorers must be youth in the 14-21 age groups. Members must have completed the 8th grade before they can be admitted to the Post.
Police Explorers who are 16 years of age or older may participate in the Ride Along Program.
POLICE EXPLORER CLUB
For those who are between the ages of 12 and 14, there is the Police Explorer Club. Club members are able to participate in most details and are under close supervision from Explorer Advisors.
For more information regarding Police Explorers, contact Detective Lieutenant Steve Hurst, Corporal Tanya Bressie, or PO Jamie Ottwell. 314-428-1221
